The Ski Base Ski School
The Ski Base Ski School offers a range of ski lessons for ages 5 and older. It is run through The Ski Base at Mt. McIntyre Recreation Centre and is sanctioned by the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club. If you'd like to sign-up for a lesson call us today at 668-4477.

Lesson Schedule January 2013
Youth and Kids Private Lessons
For ages 5 to 15 who have not skied before. Learn to classic ski and have fun on hills. Intro to skating as well.
Cost: $40 per hour or $20 each for 2 or more children
Dates: by arrangement
Rentals: $5 extra
Adult Private Lessons
Cost: Individual - $40 (1 hour session)
Groups of 2 - $25 each (1 hour session)
3 or more $20 each (1 hour session)
Dates: By arrangement, weekdays preferred
Valentine Classic Skills
For couples who want to make the most of their skiing dates. Classic technique only. (diagonal stride and double pole - uphill and downhill techniques - improve balance, increase power).
Cost: 11/2 hours each - $30 per couple
Dates: February 13 - 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. .
Enrollment: Minimum 2 couples - Maximum 4 couples
Introduction to Skate Skills
For skiers who have some classic experience or strong ice skating or alpine skiing skills and would like to try skating for the first time.
Waxing, equipment evaluation and selection, basic skating skills - balance and coordination
Cost: $25 for 1 1/2 hour lesson / $10 extra to rent skating equipment
Dates: February 20 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Register by February 18
Enrollment: Minimum 3 - Maximum 5
Intermediate Skate Skills
For skiers who have been skating for a couple of seasons, have good classic skills and would like to improve their skate skills.
Waxing, equipment evaluation and selection. Introduction to all skating skills with an emphasis on one-skate and offset skate plus the basics of balance and timing.
Cost: $35 for 1 1/2 hour lesson / $10 extra to rent skating equipment
Dates: December 13 - 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Enrollment: Minimum 2 - Maximum 5
Winter Fitness Package
10 passes / 10 rentals / 2 lessons
Cost: $250/$300 for skate
Introduction to XC Package
5 passes / 5 rentals / 2 lessons
Cost: $150
Pre - Level I CANSI Clinic
For skiers who are interested in taking the Level I CANSI course or for teachers who would like an introduction to ski instructing and some tips to help them with school programs this year. Level I CANSI Instructor Course

Ski Base Waxing Workshops
Hands on waxing techniques for novice skiers.
Cost: $10 for each workshop
Dates: February 21 – 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Grip Waxing
February 21 - 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. - Glide Waxing

Personal Training
Improve your technique and fitness with one-on-one attention. Make the commitment for a skiing lifestyle.
Cost: Once a week for 5 weeks - $175
Twice a week for 5 weeks - $325
One hour workouts – video option.
Time: Time by arrangement – how about a regular noon hour workout?

Trail Pass and Waiver Required
Please Note!! A season pass or day pass is required to take lessons. A special beginner rate of $3 for a trail pass is available for the lessons.
All participants must also sign a waiver.

Mike Gladish – CANSI Level III Instructor and previous NCCP Level 2 Coach. Mike has 30 years of teaching experience which includes 15 years of coaching.

Cancellations and Refunds
Lessons will be postponed or cancelled if the temperature is -20C or colder or if the conditions are considered unsafe at the scheduled time of the lesson. If the course is postponed by the instructor, a credit will be given for the full value of the course. If the participant does not show or cancels at the last minute there will be no refund. If the participant cancels with 24 hours notice, a credit or refund will be given.
